Donate a tree for Native Plant Month

March 2 @ 8:00 am - April 2 @ 5:00 pm

If you are interested in donating a tree to Wegerzyn in support of the Garden Club of Dayton’s Native Plant Month celebration you may do so through the Five Rivers MetroParks Foundation.
You can do this online at: https://www.metroparks.org/make-a-difference/gifts/donate/online-contribution-form/ or you can mail a check made payable to Five Rivers MetroParks Foundation
Five Rivers MetroParks Foundation
409 E. Monument’ Third Floor
Dayton, Ohio 45402
In either case specify in a note with the check or in the Gift Designation field that this is for the GCD’s Wegerzyn Native Plant Month Tree Planting. If you want to donate a specific tree, please see Janice’s note below with the trees and prices. You can add the tree you wish to contribute in the note also.
From Janice Mittlekamp at Wegerzyn:
I would love to have a few larger trees included in our upcoming plantings for Adopt a Park. Trees such as Cercis canadensis (redbuds), Ostraya virginiana (American hophornbeam), Nyssa sylvatica (black gum), Quercus shumardi (Oak), Quercus rubra (red oak) and Quercus imbricaria (shingle oak). When I spoke to Beth she indicated that we could not accept plant donations but we could accept monetary donations and apply those towards plants. I looked through a couple of sources and found this information:
Ostraya virginiana # 10 @ Siebenthaler=$89.25 and Greenfield=$69.00.
Nyssa sylvatica #15 @ Greenfield=$89.00.
Cercis canadensis @ Siebenthaler 5’ BF (bush form)=$79.50 and Greenfield #15=$79.00. Quercus shumardi @ Siebenthaler #7=$81.75 and Greenfield #10=$69.00.
Quercus rubra @ Siebenthaler 1 3⁄4” cal. =$134.25 and Greenfield #15 =$84.00.
Quercus imbricaria @ Siebenthaler 1 3⁄4” cal=$134.25 and Greenfield #15
